I just came upon notes for a piece I recently started. I had written them in the dark in the middle of the night. I find that is the time I can resolve issues that are going on in pieces. Maybe it is because all the other detritus that is on my mind during the day is eliminated. I can focus on what I feel I need to make the piece “work”.
In any case, I think they were valuable notes: The color that holds a subtle lead, that carries it through the sculpture.
I have laid out this large sculpture, sliding into it with an approach from the past two pictorial pieces I created. Doesn’t work. Didn’t work. The piece has its own life source that needs to be respected. It is in a much better place now. I am in a better place with it.
